Southwall Silver Reflective films are produced by coating an optically clear, polyester film with a highly reflective layer of silver. A technologically advanced sputter coating process creates a superior bond between the silver layer and substrate. A proprietary top layer is applied to the silver to inhibit corrosion, and special UV protection minimizes degradation and yellowing from exposure to ultraviolet light.

Silver-FSR (Front-Surface Reflector) features the highest reflectivity by coating the silver layer on the front surface of the PET substrate. UV protection is provided by a UV absorbing cap layer. As a front-surface reflector, Silver-FSR eliminates birefringence, making it ideal for rear projection TV mirrors that require distortion-free images.

Silver-BSR (Back-Surface Reflector) combines high reflectivity with excellent post-processing durability by coating the silver layer on the back-surface of the PET substrate, where it is protected by the UV absorbing PET base film.

Both products are available on an ultra thin (25-micron) PET base film that supports easy lamination to glass, plastic or metal (sheet or coil) substrates.
