UV Protection
 | Project: Taylor Gallery Location: Breckenridge, Colorado Architect: Jon Gunson Solution: Heat Mirror 77/Clear | Ultra-violet energy from the sun is responsible for more than half of the "fading" damage to fabrics such as curtains, carpeting and furnishings that are exposed to sunlight entering buildings through the windows. This issue is especially sensitive in museums, libraries and art galleries where artifacts, books and artworks must be protected from deterioration over long time periods. Typical low-e insulating glass products allow much of the sun's UV energy to pass through, resulting in relatively rapid accumulation of UV-related damage. Southwall's Heat Mirror® Insulating glass and XIR® Laminated glass products however are designed to block up to 99.5% of the sun's UV rays resulting in reduced rates of deterioration.
