Condensation Control
Condensation Control
| Project: Denver Zoo Tropical Discovery Exhibit Location: Denver, CO Solution: Heat Mirror 44/Clear | Condensation on the interior of glass not only blocks the view, but it can also cause damage to the structure and create an environment conducive to the growth of mold and mildew. Whenever possible, ambient humidity levels should be lowered; howevr, in certain applications such as libraries, museums and health care facilities, high humidity levels are often required. In such structures, very high performance glass can be a powerful tool, helping to reduce or eliminate condensation. This reduces the chance of damage, improves views, fosters a healthy environment, and in the case of libraries and museums, helps to protect and maintain collections. Heat Mirror reduces condensation because it can provide warmer inside glass surface temperatures than low-e double pane glass. Condensation is caused by the combination of cool glass and high relative humidity. As planned humidity levels increase, thermally efficient, warm Heat Mirror glass becomes more important. Simply put - warmer glass means less condensation. Benefits- Reduced energy costs
- Increased occupant comfort
- Condensation reduced or eliminated
Performance values are based on Window 5.2 simulations and standard environmental conditions. Temperatures shown are for center of glass. A narrow area around the edge of the glass may be cooler based upon glazing methods, spacers, and frame materials used.
